a very she & him christmas

30 Nov

hi, loves. i have been holding this post for what seems like forever, though in reality it’s only been a little more than a month. regardless, i can wait no longer. while i’m not the biggest fan of holiday tunes—working in retail for 10 years will do that to a girl—i guarantee this album can put a smile on the faces of even the most ba-humbuggiest of them all. #bestnewwordever

gone to sea

17 Nov

i would rather be sunbathing in tropical paradise,

exploring the world,

or simply curled up in my bed,

than at the office during our end-of-the-month madness.

anyone else feel my pain? here’s a quick mix to help get your through the day.

holy holy

14 Nov

well, well, well. guess who finally figured out the right code tweaking to get her grooveshark playlists to display correctly? this girl, that’s who. i feel like a genius.

anyway, here are some ditties to get you through arguably the worst day of the week. be forewarned, my loves: “collar bones” is a very catchy tune. so don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing it. all. day. long. it’s that good. (you’re welcome and i’m sorry, whichever way you fall.)

p.s. which song is your fave?

happy listening,

from the band:
Aurora Vibes is Work Drugs first proper release. This album was written while taking the “scenic route” from the Keys to the Baja of Mexico by sailing around Cape Horn. Encountering rough seas, the S.S. Flying Zambo had to take shelter in the Drake Passage for a number of days. While enjoying some delicious Chilean wine, the Work Drugs crew wrote a number of songs to help fight home sickness. These are those songs…

feature fridays: the drums

4 Nov

i freely admit that the name of this band is what initially prompted me to listen—i have always been a sucker for drummers. but it’s the music that keeps me listening.

this indie trio from brooklyn, ny, hit the ground running last year with a self-titled album, which rolling stone dubbed “one of the best indie pop debuts of the year.” this september, the drums released an even stronger—in my opinion, at least—follow-up album: portamento. but with influences like the smiths and joy division, how can you go wrong?

happy listening,
alicia ❤

Oh, and a shout out to my love on her special day. Happy Birthday, La La! this video’s for you.
